About the Show

It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do!

The power of this modern musical never ceases to amaze me. The story of Hairspray is about inclusivity and will resonate for years to come. This important story blended with a brilliant toe-tapping score delights audiences young and old. It is a blast to choreograph to this 60’s themed music and revisit the dance moves of that decade. And when "Motormouth" Maybelle sings the anthem ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’ there is not a dry eye in the house. The messaging and the joy that Hairspray brings to audiences, in my humble opinion, some of the best entertainment musical theatre has to offer.
