About the Show

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

A Note From Tony:

I so much enjoy working on the classic musicals. Every time that I dive into one of these iconic musicals, I learn so much about what makes brilliant musical theatre. I use the original Jerome Robbins choreography when mounting Fiddler, however the real joy for me comes from directing the scenes and bringing the actors to poetry the realism of this story. What the villagers of Anatevka endured in their quest to hold on to tradition will resonate constantly with audiences because we watch history repeating itself through this timeless story..
